Greases are a lubricant composed of a petroleum-derived or synthetic oil thickened with a soap or thickening agent to a solid or semi fluid consistency. Grease oil is widely used as a lubrication oil for rolling-element bearings, gears, and many other tribo-components.
Lubricating grease oil is usually formed out of the following components that help keep it in a semi-solid state:
Thickener – 5% to 20%
Base oil – 80% to 95%
Additives – 0% to 10%
All three of these ingredients in grease oil have different purposes. For instance, the thickeners are the lubricants reducing friction between moving surfaces. Thickeners in greases like soap hold oil in reserve until it’s needed to lubricate. So when they are exposed to movement such as vibrations or a change in temperature, they are triggered to release oil.
As for the additives, they work to complement the lubricating act of the base oil and enhance its abilities in protecting against wear and rust. It has a high viscosity already, but due to stress, its thickness levels reduce, and it gets oilier, nearly matching the thickness of its base ingredient. This entire process is known as thixotropy and is one of the primary characteristics of this lubricant; it also separates it from other seemingly similar substances like petroleum jellies.

Oil and grease are not the same; in fact, lubricating grease oils display a unique set of characteristics of their own which you must consider before picking a product for application, like vehicle greases, engine grease, or motor grease.
Here are some features of grease you need to be aware of:
The many uses of lubricating grease oils include:
Greases manufactured by the Gandhar Oil Refinery are meant for long-term lubrication; we are leagues ahead of contemporary grease oil suppliers when it comes to innovation, meeting customer demands, and abiding by international quality requirements. Our clients span continents, and that alone proves our excellence as a grease manufacturing company.
Greases control friction and wear by creating a friction-reducing film between moving surfaces. This way, the bumps between the surfaces are smoothened, and friction is decreased.
Greases are usually oils with added thickeners. At room temperature, lubricating grease oils are usually solid, while general oils are usually liquid. Not all greases come from oils, even though all oils can be made into greases by adding thickeners.
Greases are generally used on machinery, tools, or other such equipment, while oils have many non-industrial uses as well.
